WHAT WOULD WILLSON WEAR: New Years Eve Outfit ft. Motel Rcoks

And finally, FINALLY, we've come to the end of 2016. After losing David Bowie, Carrie Fisher, Christina Grimmie, and so many other talented humans, as well as the UK abandoning the EU boat, and the train wreck that is american politics, I don't think I've ever been happier to see the end of a year. That being said, 2016 has had many great memories for me, as well as the restart of this blog! So for the final post of 2016, I'm showing by far my favourite outfit of this year!

Ever since I first saw this dress on ClothesEncounters all the way back in 2013, I knew it had to be in my life. Luckily, Motel Rocks have continuously kept it in stock as it's so popular. This is the ultimate disco-ball/mermaid/sequin dress as the iridescent colours keep on popping out as it catches the light. It has a little bit of back showing and the sequins are sewed onto velvet to give it a really chic finish. The theme for the new years party I'm going to is glitter and sparkles so this dress really fits the bill. I paired the dress with my navy velvet platforms as it compliments the fabrics and brings out the blue undertones of the dress. Even though it was a house party, I still brought my over sized Levi's jacket with me for in between taxi rides and in case of an emergency takeaway run. Denim and sequins are one of my favourite combinations because its gives that really dressed up look a more grungy feel. I kept it simple with accessories by wearing a dainty silver necklace with a little martini glass charm.

Whats Banging For The Festive Sesh - NIGHT OF GLITTER

Here's the third and final installment of 'What's Banging For The Festive Sesh', in which I'm showing my favourite A/W16 trends for the festive season! I hope you've enjoyed this mini series and now have a banging outfit planned for your party/new year’s/any other sesh.

NIGHT OF GLITTER
Dolce Gabbana, Saint Laurent, Ashish, Siblings, Balmain, Adam Selman

If anyone knows me and my friends, they'll understand the cult love we have for sparkles n shiny stuff. So of course what better time of year to glitz the hell out of yourself! This can come in the form of straight up glitter, metallics, sequins, holographic and iridescent textures, speckled fabrics or all out tinsel dresses.

If your gathering is slightly more casual but you still want a bit of shimmer in your look, these stone encrusted high-waisted mom jeans are a perfect edgy twist on a classic denim staple. These limited edition jeans are an online exclusive and only 50 have been made so you better get on that quick before they go. The denim fit instantly turns the glitter trend day-time appropriate but can easily be dressed up more elaborately. I'd pair these jeans with a black turtleneck to keep my top half sleek compared to the looser fit of the jeans. For accessories I'd keep it simple with cool tone and silver jewellery, or a little pastel velvet choker. Pastels in the winter look gorgeous and are also easily transferable into spring.

Disc Sequin Slip Dress
For a twist on a classic LBD, take the plunge (literally) with this gorgeous cami style dress. If you're new to sequins, Motel Rocks is the best place online for them without causing too much damage to your bank account. What I love about this dress is that the larger disc sequins give it a completely different texture to a standard smaller sequined piece. This dress is better if your sesh is an inside shenanigan as the spaghetti straps cross at the shoulder blades and has a low scoop back.
However a dark wash denim jacket or someone’s hoodie you've just managed to nick would be conventional for going outside for fireworks on New Years Eve. If you want to go nostalgic and channel some nineties vibes, layer the dress over a plain white t-shirt. Think of it as a more glamorous adaption of Cher's gym outfit from Clueless.

            Okapi Bug Clutch

My go to bag for party if I need one will always be a clutch. All I need to bring is my phone, a mini mascara, lipstick for touch ups and plasters (you never know when someone’s going to get blisters from their heels or if someone wants to cover a nip slip). A statement clutch bag is a great way to add some ole' razzle dazzle to a simplistic outfit. I think this Skinny Dip envelope bag is so fun with the adorable graphic patch bug detailing and patent silver body contrast. The little pink sequin eye accents are just so cute! I'd pair it with a dress that picks out one of the accents of the little bugs to make them pop, but would also look good with an full on sparkly outfit if you wanted to go all out with the glitz.

Luckluster Jacket

When ever I need to layer up, I always gravitate towards an oversized denim jacket. There's something about a massive Levi's jacket that seems to go with any outfit you throw it over. Although if you want to give it an upgrade, try sequin patch distressing. The Ragged Priest  give denim a new breath of life with distressing, hand painted embellishments and  just pure bad-ass-ity. With the trademark RAGGED patch on the bottom hem at the back, something like this will keep you warm yet keep you looking super cool and edgy. As it's an oversized fit, I'd wear it with a bodycon dress, or skinny jeans and a bodysuit to keep the rest of the outfit streamline.

If you've already got your entire outfit planned to the nines, but realised you're lacking on the glitter front, then look no further. You've probably seen something like these on tumblr or instagram, and I instantly fell in love with them at first sight! Glittery diamante tights are going to make your legs look absolutely stunning if you're opting to show them off for the sesh. These are going to give an unexpected yet glamorous touch to any outfit if want that extra dazzle. A diamante choker and your favourite pair of closed-toe heels would tie perfectly with them.

So that concludes this mini series. I hope you all have a banging Christmas and a sound New Year, lets hope 2017 is better than this train wreck of a year.
Much Love X
